When I think about dining out in Ashton upon Mersey, The Fat Loaf is always one of the first places that comes to mind. It’s a restaurant that, to me, perfectly embodies that sweet spot between relaxed neighbourhood charm and truly excellent, thoughtfully prepared food.

I remember when The Fat Loaf first opened its doors over a decade ago. It quickly established itself as a gem on Green Lane, and I’ve always appreciated that it’s managed to maintain its high standards and welcoming atmosphere over the years. I know it’s loved by the local community, and I can definitely see why.

What I particularly love about The Fat Loaf is its commitment to local and seasonal produce. And I’m a big fan of their BYO wine on Tuesdays – it’s such a thoughtful touch that makes a mid-week treat even more accessible.

For me, The Fat Loaf isn’t just a place to eat; it’s an experience that consistently delivers on flavour, atmosphere, and service. It’s a testament to good, honest cooking, and it’s a restaurant I’m proud to have in Ashton upon Mersey. I always look forward to my next visit.
